A Fresh Take on Fall Containers

It’s time to freshen up your window boxes and containers for fall! As late summer rolls into autumn, my annuals are done. Without much rain lately, they are looking a little leggy and sad. That means it is time to take them out and start fresh for the new season. Here are some of my favorite fall container recipes to help you reinvent your window boxes for the fall season ahead!

Fresh Fall container Recipes

When it comes to fall containers, I love creating seasonal recipes that thrive in different light conditions while bringing a touch of elegance to porches and patios. For shady spots, the combination of helleborus, variegated heuchera, white violas, and trailing English ivy is timeless, layering soft blooms with rich foliage and cascading greenery. In sunnier spaces, lavender, snapdragons, dusty miller, and ivy create a bright, textural display that’s both fragrant and full of contrast. Both designs are easy to recreate and highlight how thoughtful plant pairings can transition your containers beautifully into the cooler months.
