Home Decor & Design Inspiration at the Paris Flea Market and Maison Objet

Why you should plan a trip to Paris for the latest in high-end design, antique finds, and endless inspiration for your home and garden.

As you have probably heard, my husband Tommy and I have bought a house in Thomaston, Georgia! We are so excited to make the move from our farm to our new place in Thomaston. But before our move, lots has to happen to turn the home into our dream space! Construction, new landscape design, and of course a trip to Paris! Trips to the wonderful Masion Objet and the fabulous Paris flea market had to be a part of our planning as we search for special pieces to fill our home. Recently, my friend, and interior designer Andrea with Couture House Interiors, and I headed to Paris for Maison Objet and the Paris flea market to search for stunning pieces for our new home! Maison Objet is an annual French trade fair for designers and architects and the Paris flea market is the largest flea market in the world!

Maison Objet

93420 Villepinte, France

Maison Objet is an incredible design trade show that happens annually in Paris. Close to the Charles de Gaulle airport, Maison Objet is held at The Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre. Regardless of where you stay in Paris, the exhibition is easily accessible by the RER B train, a shuttle bus from Pershing car park or Charles de Gaulle, or by taxi! If you opt for public transportation, I recommend the CityMapper public transportation app. It is super easy to use and gives you multiple routes for several types of transportation.

Buy your ticket to Maison Objet in advance and make sure to take a copy of your printed access badge. Wear comfy shoes and get ready to be inspired! We started in high end design and worked our way backwards. This took us all the way through starting from hall 8 to hall 1. It took us 4 days to see everything! I hope you get a chance to attend Maison Objet, they have another trade show coming up September 4-8, 2020 and again January 22-26, 2021! My advice is to go in January if you plan to go, January is one of the biggest sale periods in Paris, you will be able to find so many great deals!

Paris Flea Market

99 Allée des Rosiers, 93400 Saint-Ouen, France

The Paris flea market is actually the largest flea market in the world, covering over 17 acres! It boasts around 2,500 vendors and is open all week long. It is located in Paris’ 18th arrondissement on the north side of the city. Full of beautiful antiques and fascinating finds, the flea market is a must see in Paris! My advice is to go in January if you plan to go, January is one of the biggest sale times in Paris, you will be able to find so many great deals!

If you are in Paris, Le Train Bleu is a must, a wonderful historic restaurant located in the hall of the Gare du Lyon railway station! Also, you cannot miss the Ritz Paris and their incredible gardens! They have the most incredible trelliage, which is an elegant French lattice work. It is especially beautiful at night! I hope you get a chance to visit Paris and especially Maison Objet! It was such a wonderful source of inspiration, not only for my home, but also my work for clients!
