You will need :
3 Cups of Fresh Pressed Watermelon Juice
Watermelon Sparkling Water (2-3 cans)
‘Hint” Naturally Infused Watermelon Water
4 Freshly Squeezed Lemons
Honey for Sweetener
1/2 inch Spout
Hot Glue / Hot Glue Gun
This is such a fun activity to do together with your children! Start by gathering your materials and prepping your watermelon for the juice. First, cut the sides off of your watermelon, then you want to cut it in half. We then used a watermelon cuber to get the perfect cubes! This makes it super easy when it comes time to start pressing them. Using these cubes, you can then start mashing. We used a potato masher — this makes it so simply and easy to make watermelon juice.
Start by setting your watermelon display up. We used a gorgeous galvanized container to hold our watermelon for the extra height — this worked perfectly and was the perfect height to dispense our lemonade out of! We then drilled a 1/2 inch spout from our local hardware store (only $5 or $6) into the watermelon and used hot glue around the base to seal it off. This was trial and error, but the hot glue worked fabulously and we had no leaks. Now that our dispenser is all set up, it’s time to get started.
Let’s begin making our watermelon lemonade! Start by putting your 3 cups of chilled, freshly pressed watermelon juice in. Add just a hint of the naturally infused watermelon water. Then you can add your cans of sparkling water — we began with 2 cans and then added one more once we saw we had the room. Follow this step by adding in your freshly squeezed lemon juice and then your honey! We are using the honey as a natural sweetener, so you may use as much or as little of this as you prefer. Add some ice to chill, and your watermelon lemonade is ready to serve! How easy was that?
