The Best Gardening Tips & Tricks of 2025

As we close out 2025, I wanted to look back at the gardening tips you loved most this year.

Y’all showed up for your gardens this year, and I loved seeing which gardening tips, plants, and products you saved, shared, and clicked on the most. When I look back at 2025, one thing is clear. Simple, practical garden advice still wins every single time. I’m taking notes for next year.

These were the most clicked, saved, and shared posts of the year. Let's count them down…

THE TOP FIVE MOST LOVED GARDEN TIPS OF 2025

5. WHAT TO DO BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER A FREEZE

When a freeze is on the way, protecting your plants matters. These frost cloths were one of the most clicked items this year because they are affordable, easy to use, and can save your landscape from serious damage.

4. THE SECRET SAUCE TO HAPPY FERNS AND FLOWERS

Y'all saved this one like crazy. Ferns are the backbone of Southern shade gardens, but they thrive when planted correctly and watered consistently, with a dash of my secret sauce for an extra boost
A Moisture Meter was the quiet hero here, helping you know exactly when it is time to water.

3. ALL ABOUT HYDRANGEAS

Hydrangea posts stayed popular all year long. From pruning limelights to everyday care, the biggest takeaway was this: The right cut at the right time makes all the difference.

If you only invest in one garden tool, make it a sharp, comfortable pair of pruners you enjoy using.

2. HOW TO PLANT WAXED AMARYLLIS BULBS

I was honestly surprised this landed at number two. This simple trick took off during the holidays, especially for those gifted amaryllis bulbs.

Replanting lets you enjoy them longer, and it is easier than most people think.

1. THE HOMEMADE WEED KILLER THAT ACTUALLY WORKS
Coming in at number one, my homemade weed killer. This was a runaway favorite!

You loved learning how to tackle weeds using two simple ingredients, vinegar and salt. Save this tip for spring when weeds start creeping back in!

This is exactly why I always keep several dedicated weed sprayers on hand. It makes the job faster and more controlled.

THE GARDEN RESET I RECOMMEND BEFORE SPRING

If you do just 1-2 things for your garden right now, let it be this.

  1. Refresh your tools and supplies before the busy season hits. Sharp pruners, good soil, dependable watering tools, and a few versatile containers set you up for success long before the first bloom. Waiting until spring only makes everything feel rushed. I have linked my favorite tools and garden essentials all in one place here so you can grab what you need quickly and get back to enjoying your garden.

2. Print out your free Monthly Gardening Check Lists and begin brainstorming ideas for 2026!

Thank you for trusting me with your gardens this year!! I cannot wait to see what we grow together in 2026.

XOXO,
Carmen
